Is your student ready to apply?
A CAREER ISN'T REALLY ABOUT A FINAL DESTINATION
Youth apprenticeship is a form of work-based learning that applies the academic lessons students learn at school to meaningful work in with modern employers. Students spend part of the week at their high school, and part of the week with their employer, learning alongside professionals. Students receive credit for their apprenticeship, so they graduate on time with their peers.
Along with personal growth, you can expect your apprentice to learn about the field in
which they are working. One of the many differences with a typical high school job is
that apprentices are learning industry-supported competencies on the job and are on
a path to earn (in most cases) an industry-valued credential.

Things to avoid as an Apprentice Parent
Don't
Micromanage their experience, allow them to grow and to build confidence in their abilities at their own pace.
Don't
Communicate directly with YA staff. Encourage your child to advocate for themselves. If there is a situation where the student is not able to complete the communication, please respect the timing of your communication to working hours.

Don't
Call the employer to request an absence or excuse your child.
Don't
Expect your child to manage their own schedules and activities without your support or guidance
